Edward Lee Morgan..The Gigolo, The Sidewinder, Cornbread, Expoodient…this man was the trumpeter who reeled us into the jazz boat from the great ocean of music. He’s today’s BBR star of trumpet week.  One listen to any of his albums tells you Lee had “it”, from his days as a 16 year old in Dizzy’s band, through his Jazz Messengers transformation and until his post-junkie days in the 70s, Lee seemingly played every note as if it was his last.  He packed more feeling and melody into his 33 years than we thought humanly possible.  His music will be revered as long as people can hear.
