Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe, A.k.a Jelly Roll Morton, is today’s entry in BBR piano week. Jelly Roll got in on the ground floor of jazz invention, contributing to the creation of stride and boogie woogie. Most people today probably don’t know him but they should because despite his supposed arrogance he was one of the best of all time. We here at BBR doff our caps to this Ragin Cajun.
