Joe Zawinul steps into the BBR piano week spotlight today.  Straight outta Austria, Joe cut his teeth with Cannonball Adderley and Miles before forming Weather Report and helping popularize fusion. Readers of Downbeat voted him best electric piano player 28(!) times. If you watched the Jaco documentary you’d know he intimidated Jaco Pastorious but we digress.   Brian Eno, John McLaughlin and Chucho Valdes wrote songs about him and today he gets honored with his spot in BBR piano week.
