BBR bass week hits our stride with personal favorite Wilbur Ware. Wilbur was painfully under recorded, perhaps because of his nasty heroin habit. But what he did record he made special. He first came to our attention on what was arguably his only leader album “The Chicago Sound”. We say arguably because that lp is sometimes billed to Johnny Griffin. Either way it’s a classic, as are Wilbur’s performances with Monk and a host of other legends. Seek him out, he’s worth it.
