Charles Anthony “Buster” Williams steps center stage in BBR bass week today.  Buster got a big break when his dad, also a pro jazz bassist, sent him to sub for a gig pops couldn’t make.  The gig was with Sonny Stitt and Gene Ammons, who hired Buster full time.  Buster’s greatest achievements, however came on funk jazz records by 70s Herbie Hancock and The Jazz Crusaders. He subbed for Ray Brown a lot too, which is also high praise.
