BBR guitar week goes deeply obscure today to highlight Lenny Breau. Lenny is probably the best musician born in Maine but he grew up in Canada, where he played the same suburban Winnipeg open mic night as Neil Young. Although Lenny grew up playing Chet Atkins-style country guitar in his parents’ traveling show, he soon developed a style he likened to playing guitar like a piano. And oh did he play. Criminally under-recorded during his lifetime he was celebrated after his early death at 43 years old. Listen to him play “Freight Train” by clicking below and you’ll hear why Lenny “Little Pine” Breau is today’s BBR guitar week star.
