Tequila Sunrise is a 1988 movie written by Robert Towne, who wrote Chinatown, the latter of which is considered one of the best screenplays of all time. For our money Tequila Sunrise is better. The movie is the definitive rumination on friendships, how they age, what imperils them and why we cling to them. The soundtrack is pretty choice too, highlighted by “Recurring Dream” by the great Crowded House.
