We are hitting the road, driving north from Fort Lauderdale with a bag-ful of The Co-Op Lps. Meet Derrick Hodge, one of the most beautiful musicians and spirits with whom we have come into contact.  He is like a beam of pure light in a universe of darkness. Pluck on supreme bass man.

One of our best New Year’s ever was seeing Wilco and Flaming Lips perform at Madison Square Garden.  We hope all of you have as good a night as that one was for us.

Steven Benjamin Mandel, who grew up in Bardonia, New York listening to Elvis Costello, is today’s Brown Brothers hero.  But, he is much more than that.  He is the architect behind our sound, having recorded and de facto produced our first two albums.  As if that weren’t enough he is one of the best friends we are lucky enough to have had for the last 25-30 years.

As for his non-Brown Brothers work, we highly recommend Wise Up Ghost.  Work with your idols? Absolutely. Tirelessly help your friends? Check. Do it all with the utmost generosity and humor? You bet.  No one is without flaw but this guy is pretty close.

This is Michael Anderson.  He has done the visual art for our first two releases. He mainly uses old street posters or handbills and combines them to make beautiful collages.  Please seek him out online under his alias chumaconegro.

The Hollywood Bowl was the site of a Brown Brothers field trip last summer to see wonderful performances by Sufjan Stevens and Kurt Vile.  It is also one of the best acoustically designed venues of its size-indoor or outdoor. It’s also beautiful. Finally, it may be the subject of some big news soon. Stay tuned.
