Ya like bourbon? Then this is your holy grail. From Wolfe and Bernard Bernheim’s original to today, the folks who passed for I.w. Harper have been churning it out as well as anyone. Sip it with joy this holiday season.
Some would ask why we didn’t include this incredible track on the proper album : The CO-OP. I can’t say I’m entirely sure, but please enjoy some electric magic written by J. Pelt and performed by The CO-OP quintet
Some days it all feels hopeless. Relationships, money, family all have an equal opportunity to depress as uplift. For all of you who can’t think of one good thing but keep going anyway, you have earned our admiration and respect. Let’s listen to some music and hope the feeling passes.
Gerald Clayton is a piano player who put on a solid show at the jazz standard in Nyc last night, ably backed by co-op drummer Kendrick Scott. His monk-seque playing never does what you expect. Recommended.
No Duncan no problem. Bombast seems to rule our popular culture these days so those of us into shouting into the great void may want to recognize the brilliance of great people who are not bombastic. We give you Gregg Popovich.
The manual transmission’s fade into curiosity mirrors the decline of the u.s.a. Discuss.
Howard E. Rollins, Jr. achieved a lot as an actor in his short life. But, he is still underrated. Want proof? Watch his scenes with Denzel Washington in “A Soldier’s Story” and ask yourself: who’s more believable? Still not convinced? Devote 4 hours to watching his tour de force in “Ragtime”.
If we were living in the 1940s-60s Jeremy Pelt would be in the firmament of idolized jazz figures. He’s got the chops and work ethic of an all-time great. That is why we are so proud and anxious for others to hear his turn on the Brown Brothers merry go round: The Co-Op. This album is stellar and we are presenting it in 180 gram vinyl for it to be savored properly.
What’s the matter with me
I don’t have much to say
Daylight sneakin’ through the window
And I’m still in this all-night cafe
Walkin’ to and fro beneath the moon
Out to where the trucks are rollin’ slow
To sit down on this bank of sand
And watch the river flow
Wish I was back in the city
Instead of this old bank of sand
With the sun beating down over the chimney tops
And the one I love so close at hand
If I had wings and I could fly
I know where I would go
But right now I’ll just sit here so contentedly
And watch the river flow
People disagreeing on all just about everything, yeah
Makes you stop and all wonder why
Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street
Who just couldn’t help but cry
Oh, this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow
And as long as it does I’ll just sit here
And watch the river flow
People disagreeing everywhere you look
Makes you want to stop and read a book
Why only yesterday I saw somebody on the street
That was really shook
But this ol’ river keeps on rollin’, though
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow
And as long as it does I’ll just sit here
And watch the river flow
Watch the river flow
Watchin’ the river flow
Watchin’ the river flow
But I’ll sit down on this bank of sand
And watch the river flow

Rituals are comforting to most people, even if they have no intrinsic meaning or value. It is in that spirit that we can’t wait for Giants v. Steelers this afternoon because for children of the 7os and 80s the NFL was as close as we got to true religious ritual.
