Bass week at BBR comes to a close with Charles Mingus, as it must.  Mingus was an uncompromising genius, a label we have rarely used on this site. His absorption of Bird, Dizzy and Roach and compositional skills were unmatched on his instrument. He also started his own label -in 1952! He made 30 (!) albums in the 1950s and then he really got going, releasing “Black Saint and The Sinner Lady” and “Picanthtopus Erectus”.  The best bass player in history.
